Project: Coleslaw
I never liked cooking. Maybe it's because I was born to a family where the kitchen was definitely not my turf. It belonged to everyone else-my grandmother, my mother, my brother, my sisters-except me. My family are great connoisseurs in their own right. Because of that, fortunately or unfortunately, I knew about good food but never had the real chance to cook up something myself. I guess I was sheltered. Or plain lazy. Or gutless. Or all of the above. Besides, I couldn't stand standing next to the stove. It was much too hot for me.
Then for no special reason, I dared to try doing something just recently. I whipped up some appetizers: coleslaw! I turned to Google for some popular recipes and picked my choice. I was happy that the ingredients were readily available in the supermarket and the procedures were rather simple. Plus, it didn't really require using the stove. Haha! After about half an hour of chopping, mixing, tossing, and tasting, voila! My coleslaw is done. The dish tasted really good. I liked the crunchiness of the onions and carrots, the crispiness of the cabbage, and the sweet-tangy taste of the dressing. I did great, and I'm proud of it!
