When I Went Loco in Ilocos

It's summer time once again! School is over, Holy Week is a few days away, and everyone is starting to make plans for their vacation. Head for the beach or a nearby resort? Participate in sports marathons? Take a crash course in arts, culinary, or photography? Organize a family reunion? Or simply spend a weekend watching cable TV or old DVDs? The choices are aplenty, depending on the available time and budget. Since I am restricted by both, I figured I have to be as creative as I can in order to join the summer frenzy. And so . . . BACKTRACK to July 2011, that memorable time I spent in the scenic province of Ilocos. The destinations: Vigan, Laoag, and of course, Pagudpud! My Christmas This Year

I made my son happy this Christmas. I think. I hope so. I bought him his first Android phone. :) It cost quite a lot, at least in my standards. I am (for the most part!) a practical spender, and my son knows it. I have been using the same outdated cellphone for the last two or three years, and I am not even thinking of getting a new one anytime soon. So, when he told me that this Christmas wish was to have a new phone, the hesitation was there. I will never forget, however, the happiness on my son's face the moment the sales clerk handed him his brand-new phone. I saw in my son a very youthful look of excitement, pride, and joy. He's 15, and at his age, the one thing that matters to him most is his life in the virtual world. As we walked out of the store, my son uttered a word of thanks to me. That was very thoughtful and heartwarming. Every centavo I shelled out for that gadget was suddenly worth it.

Writing , which is why this blog was born; which is why I took up journalism in college; which is why nearly all my professional experience had something to do with either writing or rewriting; and which is why I loved it when Jyego would write me little notes (just to say thank you or sorry ) when he was growing up. Jyego wears one. 3. Aguila , my paternal name, because it is associated with the eagle, a symbol of power and nobility. 4. Leo , my zodiac sign, my birthday being July 23. Cheers!!!
