Bliss Haiku

You touch and consume my lips A moment of bliss Not pure, but bliss just the same. #SmokerThoughts

It's graduation season!

So. Today marks the 22nd year that I graduated from college. It was March 23, 1994, to save anyone from counting back. Such a long time ago! I feel old of course. I was more excited than scared after graduation. I was raring to find a job and earn money. Thankfully, it was almost always easy for me to get hired. Whether that is a direct result of my schooling, I'm not sure. I always knew though that writing was what I loved to do. I got to do that in some of the work I landed. It always felt like heaven to produce any written work: a simple correspondence letter, a tag line, an essay, a published article, and the like (including the presently relevant Twitter or Facebook status posts). The joy is in the putting of words together and the message that is created. So to this year's graduates, congratulations! I sincerely hope you get to do the things that interest you most now that you're in the really real world. Please take some time to offer your success to your parents...

I'm Back!

It's been a while, I know, so let me stick around this time. I miss writing so much! I really hope I can write for a living, the work-from-home stuff that's proving to be a quite lucrative trade nowadays. Shout out then to everyone! If you know relevant opportunities for me, please drop me a message. Thanks for your time, appreciate you dropping by . . .

Till I Meet My Bishop Again

In my college years, Sunday mass was something I would look forward to. The 6 pm mass in particular. No less then than the parish priest of San Fernando De Dilao (Paco, Manila), Bishop Teodoro "Ted" C. Bacani, was officiating more often than not. I had this peculiar liking for him, perhaps because he bore some resemblance to my father: bespectacled, wide forehead, such features I took as representative of their wisdom. In terms of behavior, though, they were completely opposites. My father is always reticent about his thoughts, while Bishop Bacani is fittingly eloquent. I am almost sure all of us in the parish loved the Bishop for he had a very unique gift of touching our hearts with his homilies. He imparted Church teachings without sounding critical or judgmental. He was never the preachy type. Not at all. Often, he would speak of common people's misguided ways and make fun of them. But certainly not in an offensive manner. On the contrary, he used his good-natured humo...
